Absorbable surgical suture, polyglactin 910, USP 5/0, reverse cutting (RC) needle 3/8 circle 19 mm, 75 cm thread, 12 pieces

The absorbable polyglactin 910 surgical suture is a synthetic material intended for general soft tissue closure and/or ligation. This version features a violet USP 5/0 thread measuring 75 cm in length. The thread has a coated, braided multifilament construction and is fitted with a 19 mm reverse cutting (RC) needle with a 3/8 circle curvature.

The material consists of a copolymer containing 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide, with a coating of poly(glycolide-co-L-lactide) and calcium stearate, the latter present at less than 1%. Absorption occurs through hydrolysis, which progressively breaks down the thread, with complete absorption taking place within 56 to 70 days. Approximately 50% of the original tensile strength remains after 21 days. The suture has a minimal tissue reaction, high flexibility, and reduced capillary action.
