The vial body is made of heat-resistant plastic and includes a glass ampoule filled with culture medium used to detect the survival or destruction of spores after the sterilization cycle. An external process indicator label is attached to each vial, changing colour from pink to brown when exposed to steam, confirming that the indicator has undergone a full sterilization cycle. After autoclaving, the plastic vial is pressed to crush the internal glass ampoule, activating the culture medium for incubation. Activated indicators should be incubated at 60±2°C for up to 24 hours. A control vial that has not been processed must be incubated daily to verify the correct operation of the incubator. Interpretation of results is visual and straightforward: • The culture medium remains purple - all spores were destroyed, confirming a successful sterilization process. • The medium turns yellow - indicates bacterial growth and sterilization failure. Positive indicators must be neutralized by incineration or autoclaving at 121°C for 30 minutes or 134°C for at least 30 minutes before being discarded as general waste. Storage conditions require a temperature range between 10°C and 30°C, protected from direct sunlight and chemical exposure. Do not use after the expiration date printed on each vial.
