Absorbable Hemostatic Gelatin Sponge, SCROFALON, Special, 80 x 50 x 1 mm, 10 pcs is is a sterile absorbable hemostatic medical device manufactured from highly purified neutral gelatin of porcine origin. Gelatin is obtained through the thermal denaturation of collagen. The sponge has a uniform porous structure that allows blood absorption and contact with platelets, contributing to the formation of a physiological clot.

SCROFALON absorbs approximately 40 to 50 times its own weight and can achieve hemostasis in approximately 2 to 5 minutes. The material completely liquefies within approximately 3 to 5 days and is completely absorbed within approximately 3 to 4 weeks when implanted. The Special version has a thickness of 1 mm and is intended for use in surgical areas where available space is limited.

Instructions for Use:
• Remove the product from its packaging using sterile technique and cut the sponge to the required size.
• Use only the minimum amount necessary to achieve hemostasis.
• SCROFALON can be applied dry or saturated with sterile physiological saline solution.
• For dry application, manually compress the sponge before use and avoid tightly packing the site.
• Hold the sponge at the bleeding site with moderate pressure for approximately 10 to 15 seconds.
• If an additional application is required, use a fresh piece of sponge.
• Do not resterilize or reuse the product.
