Methylene Blue 1%, for external use, PRIMA, 25 g is a galenic preparation in the form of an aqueous solution, intended exclusively for external application. The product contains methylene blue as the active substance, also known by its chemical name Methylthioninii chloridum, at a concentration of 1%, formulated in distilled water.Active substance:
• Methylene blue (synonym: Methylthioninii chloridum).
Therapeutic action:
• External use;
• Moderate and long-lasting antiseptic action;
• Ability to penetrate affected tissues;
• Cicatrizing effect;
• Mild analgesic effect.
Composition information:
• Methylene blue – 1%;
• Distilled water – 99%.
The ratio between the active substance and the solvent is established according to the principles used in the preparation of galenic solutions, where mass units of the active substance are related to mass units of the solvent.
Therapeutic indications and method of use:
• Recommended for external use in inflammations or superficial lesions of the oral, pharyngeal, laryngeal, and genital mucosa;
• Suitable for lesions located at the cutaneous level;
• Applied on ulcers, burns, pyodermas, folliculitis, skin irritations, pressure sores, and frostbite;
• Local application on the affected surface by swabbing.
Usage warnings:
• Contact with the ocular mucosa must be avoided;
• In case of accidental eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water;
• Concomitant administration with other topical remedies is not recommended.

• Methylene blue dosage limits: 0.05% – 1.05%;
